Self-tanners can be really tricky. If you get the right one, you’re a glowing bronze goddess. If you get the wrong one, you’re a streaky orange mess.
Here are my tried-and-true three best self-tanners, according to when you want to see results:
IMMEDIATELY: If you need to look sun-kissed and glowing ASAP, you need Vita Liberata Body Blur Instant HD Skin Finish. It’s expensive ($45) but, to me, it’s worth it. It goes on smooth, looks natural, and doesn’t leave stains on my clothes. It’s a makeup artist favorite, and many (including me) also use it as liquid bronzer on the face – it looks fabulous! I even put a little bit in an airplane-sized bottle when I’m traveling for a television appearance. It never fails me.
BY TOMORROW: My absolute FAVORITE self-tanner is St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse. I’ve used this for over five years and I can’t get enough of it. I recommend to my friends, family, and I even bought it for my mom for her birthday. Your tan looks incredibly natural (my boyfriend just complimented me on my bronzed skin yesterday, it was this stuff!) and I’ve NEVER had a problem with streaking. My biggest tip though: make sure you also get the applicator mitt. It makes all the difference in the world. Again, this product isn’t cheap but it lasts for a long time and it’s always given me the perfect tan overnight. I love, love, love this product. (Just so you know, St. Tropez has a lot of different variations of this product – like sprays and lotions – but I’ve only ever used the mousse. I’ve never had a reason to try anything else because this works so perfectly.)
GRADUALLY: You can’t beat a classic. Jergens Natural Glow + Firming Moisturizer has been around forever, and there’s a reason why. It works. If you’re looking for a natural and gradual glow, this stuff can’t be beat. And the price is great, too!
These products make it easy to throw on some self tanner and not worry that you’ll end up looking like an Oompa Loompa. Happy self-tanning!
