Cleaning makeup brushes is never fun. (Let’s be honest, cleaning anything is never fun.) But it’s something that’s got to be done.
Germs and bacteria love to hang out on makeup brushes, so using dirty brushes can cause serious breakouts and skin irritation. But it’s also important to know that dirty brushes screw up the color you’re applying – your blush could be pink in the compact, but muddy-looking on your face.
I used to use various cleaners from Sephora for my brushes, then I’d need another cleaner for my beauty blender, which wasn’t cheap and it always took forever – until a makeup artist told me the best, most convenient product for cleaning brushes AND beauty blenders.
Here it is: Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Liquid Soap.
You guys, this stuff is magic. If you’ve never heard of Dr. Bronner’s, it’s honestly the best multi-tasking soap ever. You can use it as a body wash, a hand soap, you can use it to wash dishes and about a thousand other things. Oh, and it’s all-natural, organic, and vegan. I use it for a lot of things but I never knew you could wash makeup brushes and beauty blenders with it. But it works so well!
When I use Dr. Bronner’s it takes me about 5 minutes to wash 7-8 makeup brushes and a beauty blender. Just squirt a little soap on the brush, rub it in, and rinse under hot water. I will never go back to buying expensive brush shampoo that doesn’t work half as well. Try it and let me know what you think!
